Canning By Kane

I have been teaching myself canning lately. With the end of the summer, I wanted to be able to can a lot of the great fruits and vegetables that are in season right now. You can see my tomatoes, okra and peaches. I've been reading a book about it, watching videos and buying supplies. Can't wait to see what's available in the Fall. I'm addicted and can't stop. Maybe I will can some laughter.

Ooh, I wish I still had my mom's pickle recipe, I'd pass it on to you. They were the best pickles ever. My favorite thing canned though is gotta be bing cherries. Holy cow! When I was little, I used to go downstairs and steal a jar and eat them all myself! If you can get your hands on some crabapples, they make the best jam in the world. Have fun Tommy. Why do I think I see a pressure cooker for canning in your future, lol.

I'm interested in those bing cherries. I'll have to look that up.

We make grapefruit Marmalade from the fruit a friend grows . Next year I may expand to Meyer lemon curd.
