I've got a new iphone app called SpiralArt. You can create the old spiral paintings by splashing paint onto your canvas while it spins around. It's not actual paint. It's fake pixel paint. You can adjust the speed and the size of your brush. It's wacky and fun for about 5 minutes.

The Artists Magazine is starting to feature some of the great people who are part of Urban Sketchers. Somehow I was chosen to be the first. They were drawn to the manhole cover I did in Korea. It's a tribute to how good a website Urban Sketchers has become.

Lately I wanted to screw around with something. So I chose the old choking poster that hangs in bars and restaurants. This type of exercise brings out the Mad magazine in me. I can do this stuff in no time at all. It just flows out of me like an 11 year old. I want to hang it in the kitchen of my office. Maybe I'll make prints for my Etsy store so people can hang them in their saloons.

Woods is not only a Tiger he's a Cheetah. I'm sure that's an old joke by now. It's great he's going to play the masters. I don't watch golf much and the few times I did was to see Tiger play. My set will be tuned to the master's that weekend for his return. Everyone wants to see if the wife will be there keeping an eye on him. Will he crack under the pressure or rise to the occasion? The thrill of victory or the agony of defeat. I'm sure all his ex-hooker girlfriend's will be tuning in.

Here is the film Danny made about what advertising was like 25 years ago. It's about how the world has changed around us while we've all been busy watching reality tv. If you are an artist or anyone who has worked in advertising, it may be worth your time to watch. It is a bit long but at least you can watch it in segments. The sound is not great but at least Danny and I did something with our Sunday afternoon.

Danny Gregory and I hung out this weekend. Of course, his son Jack Tea was there too. Danny wanted to see if we could make a little film about what it was like in advertising 25 years ago when we started out together and just how much things have changed. He set up a few cameras and let them roll while we talked to each other. We were both drawing while we talked. That's not something I'm good at. I can only do one or the other. So I have to admit I was concentrating more on talking than on my drawing. Danny had a few pictures he had printed out laying on the table. I took a couple to draw while we spoke. You can see some writings on my page. They were my little cheat sheet notes for our talk. When we were done talking, I worked hard to turn my page into a cool little drawing. Jack Tea said it looked like a James Jean drawing. That made me feel good. I spend every waking hour trying to get my sketches to look like his. Who knew all it took was me not really paying attention to my drawing while I did it. The best part of the day was when Danny and I began to roll film, his wife Patti came in from walking the dogs. She started talking and Danny stopped her. "Couldn't she see we were making an IMPORTANT film." That made me laugh. In fact, I'm still laughing thinking about it today. Important wasn't the first thing that came to my mind. Dumb, stupid, silly were more like it. The film is in the early stages. It's a work in progress.

I was looking at the new Juxtapoz magazine and came across a cool ad. It was for a company that lets you make your own customized iphone 3G case. They are called Uncommon. If you are an artist or photographer, go the website. Upload your art, pay and in a few days you get your groovy case in the mail. I think it was about $40 for one. I'm very happy with how it came out. There will be a lot of phone envy when I whip my out.
