Does Anyone Remember Laughter

When I was a kid I knew nothing about art supplies. I didn't even go into an art supply store until I was in college. In grammar school if I had a project to do, my mom would send me to the candy store with a quarter and I would buy a piece of oak tag for nineteen cents. What the hell is oak tag anyway? I asked some people at work and everyone knew what it was. It's all I ever used as a kid. I found some big sheets of paper in my office. They reminded me of this oak tag stuff. I wondered what it would be like to draw on it now. So this is my little effort at working on oak tag after a million years. I'm not sure I'd try it again but I did feel nostalgic.

Oak tag ruled the day.

Wouldn't oak tag now be called card stock, or cover stock? The heavy colorful kind? That's how I remember oak tag.

It's weird. I go to friggin Beirut and no one has any comments. I write about stupid oak tag and everyone comments. Go figure.

I 'm pretty sure laughter has been replaced by pragmatism, and Oaktag by a Wacom.

I finally use a wacom.

Mr. Kane:
As many others have said, your blog posts & drawing skill are inspirational!!!
The "Oak Tag" reference gives me a chance to offer you a look at something that you might find curious anyway.
I used to draw on oak tag every day with ball point pens: working drawings that were part of the production of embroidered emblems.
The emblem company bought the stuff in giant rolls maybe 4 feet wide and 2 ft in diameter. We used to stand the roll up in a corner and cut off pieces with a matte knife.
Some pictures of what I'm talking about are on my flickr page here:
