Not everyone has a pork store in their neighborhood but I do. My hood is very old school Italian. There is a social club, if you know what I'm saying. The food on my block is off the charts, from incredible bakeries, butcher shops and cheese stores. Mama mia. Drawing the pork store is something I've wanted to do ever since I moved in. Of course all the workers came out to see what I was up to. Finally I met the owner Georgie. He was thrilled by my drawing. I'll make some prints this week and bring them over to all of the guys. I'm starting to make a name for myself in good old Brooklyn.

You gotta do a children's book about your neighborhood. And that pig has got to be the main character! So cool, my mouth is watering with the thought of your culinary surroundings.

I copied most of the words on each sign in the windows. I had to do a bit of editing to make it all fit. I'm nuts like that.

Buttermilk Channel, Frankies on court street, Fernando's in Cobble Hill - The 104 year old Sicilian gem! Sammy's on court street (warning: Sammy's is not for everyone) It's more about the show and the weirdness than the food. Marco Polo on Court street. They are the ones near us.

I used to live in Madrid and they still have those specialized shops for meat, bread, veggies and fruits. They're way cheaper and taste better than in supermarkets. Open air markets are the only thing left in Finland and of course they're open only during the summertime.. I just miss my Frutería in Madrid..
