Fresh Mozzarella

Not everyone has a pork store in their neighborhood but I do. My hood is very old school Italian. There is a social club, if you know what I'm saying. The food on my block is off the charts, from incredible bakeries, butcher shops and cheese stores. Mama mia. Drawing the pork store is something I've wanted to do ever since I moved in. Of course all the workers came out to see what I was up to. Finally I met the owner Georgie. He was thrilled by my drawing. I'll make some prints this week and bring them over to all of the guys. I'm starting to make a name for myself in good old Brooklyn.

You gotta do a children's book about your neighborhood. And that pig has got to be the main character! So cool, my mouth is watering with the thought of your culinary surroundings.

Great drawing, as usual! It's making me hungry for some really good capicola, which no one around here seem to know about.

Your neighborhood sounds great. I love little specialized shops - I wish Calgary had more of that.

Nice drawing by the way.

terrific sketch -- I love espositos' sweet italian sausages. And hand-cut breakfast bacon. Mmmmmm.

Great sketch!

Great meatballs too. There is a giant statue of a pig out front of the place.

Love how you make prints so your work lives on outside of your notebooks. And love that pig!

Love the 'wordy' drawings captures the area makes me wanna go there

I copied most of the words on each sign in the windows. I had to do a bit of editing to make it all fit. I'm nuts like that.

I live down the street from here. I'm sure you are up on Caputo's as well, if you are exploring the surrounding options.

I know Caputo's well.

Buttermilk Channel, Frankies on court street, Fernando's in Cobble Hill - The 104 year old Sicilian gem! Sammy's on court street (warning: Sammy's is not for everyone) It's more about the show and the weirdness than the food. Marco Polo on Court street. They are the ones near us.

Love your sketches! Think I see some green on that little piggy! Maybe he's Irish/Italian.

Tommy Kane said...

There are a lot of Irish in my hood, like me for instance.

Love all of the noodley detail in your work. Pig is king!

That pig is out standing on Court Street right now.

Amazing drawing, I just really love your work, it has a unique touch.

I used to live in Madrid and they still have those specialized shops for meat, bread, veggies and fruits. They're way cheaper and taste better than in supermarkets. Open air markets are the only thing left in Finland and of course they're open only during the summertime.. I just miss my Frutería in Madrid..

I'll be in Barcelona next week.
