This drawing on the street thing is quite strange. Not a lot of people do it. Think if you met someone and asked if they wanted to go drawing with you. People would look at you like you were nuts. So what are the odds of having two friends who are willing to do this with me? Danny, Butch and I are such a trio. Plus Butch has a car. So when Butch asks, "what do you want to draw?" I can say the Williamsburg bridge and my wish can come true. Presto. We don't talk or interact when we are drawing. It is done silently but it is comforting to know that some maniac is a few feet away doing the same exercise. People are always checking out the three weirdos. It's like the line from the old theme song to the show, "The Monkees." "We get the funniest looks from, everyone we meet." That's us.

Nice. I really like how that bridge turned out.
Hey Tommy, if you're ever in the UK, London. I'll go drawing with you.
Here in Munich, I would go with you too. ;)
So do people ever look too long over your shoulder? Or don´t you mind that at all?
I would love to draw with you guys. People always look over my shoulder and I don't mind at all. What I do is part street theatre anyway.
Come drawing with me in Newcastle (England) people do find it a bit odd but for some reason chicks seem to dig it.
The only people who have ever talked to me whilst drawing in public have been girls.
Hi Tommy! This is beautiful! I wouldn't have the patience to draw a bridge with this much detail! and to draw while people are watching...no way!
Hi Tommy! This is beautiful and I think what you do is just amazing. Have you heard of the SketchCrawl? I just heard about it and thought it was a really interesting idea. I am in the area (NJ, but moving to NYC soon!!!) - would LOVE to go out sketching sometime... if you could stand me. ;) Oddly enough, I don't mind people watching me draw at all - since I am my ABSOLUTE own worst critique.
I have heard of sketchcrawl and I've participated. When you move back to New York send me an e-mail and you can come draw with me. Anyone can.
Lot of sweet work since my last visit.
Keep them coming, and I'll keep visiting.
Cheers,
Milenko
great work. I love hearing about your adventures with Danny. Don't know Butch, but he must be a kick AND he has a car woo hoo!
Butch is the photographer who did the Steve Madden ads with me. He is an amazing painter and sketch man.
The bridge drawing is great. Your line work is nice and all of your posts are interesting and entertaining.
Brilliant drawing! Those people who give you strange looks don't know how lucky they are, I'd love to see you drawing! I got my second offer to draw in public with someone only last week so I feel really lucky, until this year I never met anyone who does that. They are busy people, I'm hoping it works out.
Man,oh,man...this structure is incredibly drawn. I am blown away by your entire portfolio. I've seen your name pop up on numerous website/blogs...and now I see why. Your colors are so subtly wrought. My hats off to you, friend. This is what it's all about.
I am trying to get a sketch crawl going at Coney island on the weekend of the 9th I think..I doubt anyone will sketch with me, but if you know any folks who might be interested, that would be great. Its weird sketching with my husband hanging out waiting for me to finish sketching. We have not figured out the best sketching relationship yet.
