False Teeth

I am obsessed with these stupid fake teeth. They crack me up. I hope to eventually own 100 of them. My favorite is the one with one tooth missing. I bought them on the way to see my mother-in-law down in Maryland. My father-in-law had passed away the week before. I thought it would cheer her up. Yun kept scolding me to take the stupid thing out of my mouth. She said it was unfunny. When my mother-in-law saw me, she started to cry. She thought something bad happened to me. When she finally realized it was fake she was cracking up too. Of course I had to do it all weekend long at he most inappropriate times. It always cracked my mother-in-law up and me too. I always keep one set in my travel kit. I would always forget about it. Yun and I would check into a hotel and there it would be. I would put the sucker in and Yun would see it and hang her head and wonder how she ever hooked up with such a mental patient.

you're too much, Tommy...you must really keep Yun laughing.

Thank you for my daily dose. (I think I'm addicted) Now my day is complete with a huge grin, courtesy Tommy Kane.

I'd love to see a video of you trying on each of your 100 false teeth!

:O)

Poor Yun is probably wondering what she got herself into. You're too funny!

What an appropriate post tonight. I just had two fillings replaced at the Dentist today, and the whole time I was sitting in the seat, clenching my fists, I was thinking of your post a while back about going to the dentist. I made him give me a double shot of Novacane. I'm a real baby.

Ya know, if you really love those teeth, come visit me in NH and we'll go up north to the remote parts of the state where there are people who really do have teeth like that! Hard to believe in this day and age that people don't take care of their teeth, or even see a dentist. I had a press operator working for me who had 2 or 3 teeth pulled and never replaced them. Can you imagine? I couldn't believe it!!!

PS, Nice work, Ana and Felicity!

I love these teeth too! I got some Billy Bob teeth for my elder son for Christmas (not just those you understand!) but he just thought I was mad. Now they are mine and they crack me up every time I see them. I'm jealous of your set! BTW, I have Irish teeth too - do you think that has something to do with it?

(Thanks Linda!)

Those are very funny ... great stuff.
Personally, fake teeth and dentures give me the creeps... not sure why.
As a kid I always wanted a decent pair of vampire fake teeth... not those crappy cheap rubber ones that didn't fit...

that is a good idea, ana -- i will take some photos of tom w/ his teeth in. tom likes to buy the teeth in the gumball machines in the service areas on the NJ Turnpike. he then promptly puts them in. one time, a kid ran up to tom to ask for directions because he couldn't find his parents. He was so distraught over his parents that he didn't even notice tom's teeth. Poor kid. I just stay away when tom has his fake teeth in.

I plan on wearing them to the dentist next.

This one is still making me laugh...the more I think about it. Yun, a photo of Tommy with his teeth in would be priceless!

Hey Tommy great drawings. I heard your interview on the illustrative designer podcast. You did a great job and it's nice to see another artist drawing so much in a sketchbook. Very inspiring!

Don´t know why I don´t check your blog more often, I leave it smiling every time I do. Your fake teeth story is hilarious, sounds just like something someone in my own family could do in a serious moment... You gotta love things like that!
Anyway, thanks for the great inspiration I find here, and I´ll be sure to check in here again soon!

Have you ever tried making some of your own? Silicone caulk from the hardware store works great, and then paint it with non-toxic paint.

You can make great fake teeth by getting 2 pieces of pink bubblegum (chewed a bit) and sticking it over your teeth, and then sticking peanuts into the gum.

Another great game:
Get a lifesize image of a face from a magazine page and rip it in half and put either half of it on top of your own face, then get someone to take a photo. You can make some crazy pictures doing this. Trust me. Just give it a try. It will make you laugh.

Interesting story you got here. I'd like to read a bit more about that theme. The only thing that blog needs is some pictures of any gizmos.
